The Irish Dance Center
The Irish Dance Center is based in Austin, Texas with sister companies in Dallas, Waco and Mexico City. After many years of teaching students in Ireland and all over the United States, world champion dancer, Eimir Ni Mhaoileidigh, T.C.R.G., settled in Austin and founded the Irish Dance Center in 1997 . The school offers classes in all the basic techniques of traditional Irish Step dancing, including reels, jigs, hornpipes, and all other forms of traditional competitive Irish dance, for adults and children over age 4. Advanced classes experiment with complex rhythms and are eligible for invitation to the Irish Dance Company. Competition at Feiseanna is encouraged for students at all levels, but is not required. The Irish Dance Center, in conjunction with Lone Star Irish Dance Inc. hosts the Lone Star Feis in Austin Texas. This is an annual Irish dance/music competition which attracts competitors from all over the United States. The focus of The Irish Dance Center is to educate our students in the rich tradition of Irish Step Dancing and to preserve and uphold the unique cultural traditions of Ireland
